Speed Governor
A safety component that detects excessive car speed and helps activate the associated safety gear.
Safety Gear
A mechanical safety assembly designed to grip the guide rails and stop the elevator car under defined conditions.
Elevator Car
The enclosed part of an elevator that carries passengers or loads between floors.
Landing Door
The door at each landing that separates the building floor from the elevator shaft.
Door Operator
The mechanism that opens and closes the elevator car and landing doors in a controlled manner.
Control Panel
The electrical control unit that coordinates elevator movement, calls, doors and safety circuits.
