Safe Use
What should I do if I am trapped in an elevator?
A stopped elevator can feel stressful, but remaining inside the car and using emergency communication is normally the safest response.

Stay in the car and establish contact
Do not try to leave the car by yourself. It may be between floors, and forcing a door or crossing an opening can cause a serious fall or crushing hazard.
Use the alarm or intercom
Press the alarm and use the emergency communication system. If your phone works, contact building management or the service provider. Give the address, number of passengers and any injury, smoke or medical concern.
Wait for authorized rescue
Rescue should be performed by trained people who know the installation procedure. Follow instructions, stay away from the doors and do not interfere with car panels or the roof hatch.
Call emergency services when necessary
Call the local emergency number if there is fire, smoke, injury, fainting, breathing difficulty or another immediate danger. Clearly report your location and condition.
Frequently asked questions
Should I try to open the doors?
No. The car may not be level with a floor. Forcing the door can create a fall or entrapment risk. Use emergency communication and wait for help.
Will the air run out?
No. Elevator cars are not airtight. Do not force the doors because of this fear; stay calm and communicate.
How long will rescue take?
There is no fixed time. Building access, team arrival, car position and fault type all influence it. Maintaining communication with passengers is important.
