VRLA maintenance-free batteries do not spill or leak acid, release very little gas, keep a long shelf life and tolerate vibration better than flooded batteries. The 12 V batteries used in UPS systems consist of six 2 V cells, and capacity is measured in ampere-hours (Ah).
